WordPress sort order glitch

This morning I woke up and discovered that my blog thought it was 2006.  Or so it seemed, at first glance.  After some investigation, it turned out that there’s a Wordpress/MySQL issue that shows up with the version of MySQL my host is running, that breaks the sort order for query_posts().  As a result, my home page was showing posts in reverse order — oldest first.  D’oh!

As luck would have it, there is a handy little plugin for WordPress to workaround the problem, so everything is back to normal.  If you encounter the problem, you can find the plugin at the bottom of this page: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/147223.

So, if you wake up one morning and find WordPress doesn’t know the date, give it a try.
